Nouvelles - 2008

  • October 2, 2008 - NMR DATA PROCESSING WOKSHOP to be held on Thursday October 16, 10:00 - 12:00, D'Iorio Hall room 214.  The workshop will be presented by Arvin Moser of Advanced Chemistry Development and will include a presentation of the ACD's NMR processing software (available for free to all U of O students) and lots of time to ask questions.  If you would like to have some of your difficult data treated during the workshop please bring it to Glenn Facey before October 16.
  • September 26, 2008 - The AVANCE III 200 for solids has been delivered and installed in D'Iorio Hall room 416.  It is currently available for use.  To see a few pictures of the installation, follow this link.  (photos courtesy of David Bryce)
  • September 18, 2008 - The Server on which the CALCIUM time booking software was hosted is dead.  Follow this link to the new server.
  • August 28, 2008 - A new AVANCE III 400 spectrometer for solids will be installed in MCD 012.
  • August 28, 2008 - Scheduled spectrometer upgrades this fall / winter:  Both the AVANCE 300 and AVANCE 500 will be upgraded from XWINNMR 3 to TOPSPIN 2 with new computers.  These upgrades will require that you take a "training booster"  which will be offered by the NMR lab.  The console of the ASX 200 will be replaced with a new AVANCE III console.
  • July 17, 2008 - You now have another option for processing your NMR data.  The University of Ottawa has just purchased a university-wide site license for ACD's NMR processing software package.  This software will run on WINDOWS 2000, XP and VISTA computers.  It is currently installed on the workstation in DRO 430.  Please try it out and visit the NMR lab to arrange to have it installed on your PC.
  • April 30, 2008 - With the large number of incoming summer students, the NMR instruments will be much busier.  To help accommodate the higher usage,  the AVANCE 300 in the undergraduate laboratory will be made available for research use from May 1 -  August 31.  As the NMR Facility is unable to assign keys to this area, all samples run on this instrument will be run by the NMR lab staff as a service.  To have your samples run on this instrument, please fill out a request form and leave your sample and the form in the NMR lab in D'Iorio 416.
  • April 1, 2008 - The University of Ottawa will take delivery of a new Bruker AVANCE 400 NMR spectrometer for solids this summer.  This instrument will be installed in MacDonald Hall room 012 with the Bruker AVANCE 500.  In addition to the new 400, the 14 year old console for the ASX 200 spectrometer for solids will be replaced by a new Bruker AVANCE 200 console.  Also this summer, the Bruker AVANCE 500 spectrometer will be upgraded from XWINNMR 3.5 to TOPSPIN 2.0.  Congratulations to Dr. Bryce for his successful CFI proposal.
